Confession: I love doing laundry! I know I am a weirdo but I truly enjoy it, it is a nice mental break for me. Before we started demo and changing up the way our house functioned we had to make a decision; Do we keep the laundry room in the small closet it was in or do we add a laundry space to our sunroom? Ultimately it came down to the fact that this little cozy home of ours was lacking in storage space especially in the kitchen. Turning the closet into a pantry has been one of my favorite changes we have made so far.Read More
I am so ready to say Happy Fall Y ’all! I love fall the most for so many reasons but mostly because I love the cozy feeling. Sweaters, boots, scarves and of course fall flavored coffee( maple specifically). This year I wanted to transition into fall slowly, adding cozy elements here and there as we get closer to September.Read More
I have never really thought to share my antiquing adventures on here but I think I will start. I really have the best time searching for treasures, especially when my bestfriend (or more recently my husband) come along. I don’t know why but it has always been enjoyable. I like to look at and purchase pieces that I imagine have a great story to tell.Read More
I have been a bit quite on here and the interior projects have taken a back seat because of our backyard project but I have something exciting to share. The retaining wall is complete. I don’t know why but it makes me so happy to say that. The last step is to add concrete to secure it!Read More
People say that Disney world is the happiest place on earth, in my humble opinion Cotton and Co vintage boutique is my happiest place on earth. There is truly something magical about this place. It sounds silly but I am telling you the moment I stepped into the store a few months ago I knew it was going to become a favorite. There is so much here to love from the vintage finds to the Maryland store goodies to all things in between.Read More
As an interior designer it is my passion to create beautiful interiors for people and us, but I also know that the exterior is just as important and at times just as fun. I have always dreamed of having a beautiful backyard to hang out in with friends and family , a place to day dream and to drink my coffee. Any place to drink a cup of coffee sounds like a good place to me. While our backyard is still a work in progress I wanted to share some photos of what it looked like and where it is today.Read More
I truly love being cozy all year and I love creating cozy spaces in our home. Truthfully you will probably find me under a blanket even in the hottest months of the year. Our living room has become one of my favorite places to spend time watching tv or in most cases day dreaming.Read More
Today is a day full of celebration for me, not only is it the fourth of July but Vintage Soul Designs turns one. As I typed the title of this blog post I could feel the tears in my eyes. I cant even begin to explain how amazing it feels to say that I not only own my own business but that I have owned it for a year. Interior design has changed my life in so many ways to the beautiful friendships I have made through school to the creative aspect of it.Read More
While we were in St Michael’s a few months ago we visited one of our favorite spots Flamingo Flats( sadly it has closed but we will always remember the sweet owner and the lovely people who worked there). While we were there we found these Chesapeake Bay place mats that are double sided and perfect for the summer. Our pothos plant with some little flags added the perfect fourth of July touch to our dining table.Read More
Last Friday my husband and I ventured to a local barn sale and it did not disappoint. This was my first time visiting this barn sale but I know that it wont be my last. One of my favorite local small shops was set up there and I discovered a few more vendors that I fell in love with. The barn is nestled off the road a ways with beautiful views and the horses they have on the farm are also beautiful.Read More
Cozy all year! that’s exactly how I want to be. It may seem a bit odd in the summer time but to me its more then just being bundled up( though I still enjoy that some nights too). Cozy has become a feeling of comfort for me and our home is starting to reflect that.Read More
This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the 3rd annual lavender festival at Springfield Manor Winery and it was lovely. Sometimes it is wonderful to go new places and see new things. My husband and I have driven past this winery many times and I had always wondered about it.Read More
On Friday we both got to spend the day together, which is a rare occurrence during the week. My husband said lets get you some coffee first( I cant help myself, coffee before talkie) and then I have a surprise for you. The surprise was a trip to a lumbar warehouse called Exotic LumbersRead More
I was surfing ( see what I did there ;) ) around on TJ Maxx’s website this morning and found quite a few coastal cottage finds that caught my eye. I love adding coastal elements in a more relaxed classic way.
The first thing I saw was the cute little sailboat doggy bed, while we don’t have a dog of our own yet there was just something about the color and style. As a kid we went to the shore every year, usually it was to my grandparents house in St. Michaels on the bay but we also made many trips to the beach. My mom loved to ride bikes at the beach so the bike planter instantly made me think of her.
If you know me in person you know that I love and I mean love mermaids and all things coastal. At one point in my life I wanted to be a surfer( I know crazy right?! I grew up hours from the beach and my balance is not the best ). As a coastal lover I will be adding some pieces to our cozy home for the summer, maybe a mermaid or two.
I hope this inspires you in some way. Thank you for stopping by today:)
I hope that you had a great long weekend however you spent it. For us it was a busy work around the house kind of weekend. We worked all day outside on Saturday ( the yardwork is a never ending job, especially with terrible allergies), Sunday and Monday we worked our booties off inside. It has been some time since we gave the house a real deep clean. This weekend we also bought a few new things for the house including a new living room rug.Read More
I had the itch to switch the other day, you know the feeling right? You see something at Target or in my case a vintage boutique that calls your name and says” Take Me Home”. Maybe that sounds a little silly but I have never really been one to like to leave spaces the same for to long.Read More
I hope that you all are not getting sick of me sharing our indoor gardens. I am loving them, having plants especially ones that we can harvest and eat is so important to me. A few weeks ago we decided to buy these hydro gardens(below) and I have to say they are the best investment. The lettuce we have harvested is amazing, I have had three salads so far. The best part is that the lettuce can be harvested for up to 5 months in these pods. We just make sure to keep the water filled up and to give them plant food every two weeks. I have never tasted better lettuce. My husband calls me his little rabbit and I love it.Read More
Today I wanted to share a fun school project that I did for my color theory class. This project was my favorite one that we did because I love working with textiles in different ways. A project like this would also make a great summer project to do with your kiddos( or if you just wanted to make one). You can easily use any fabric you have around the house or pick out special pieces to use.Read More
Home made bagels are what Sundays are made for. My husband said after a very long day of working outside Saturday that he wanted to make bagels. I thought aren’t you tired but as he reminded me this recipe is so quick and easy. This is a great recipe to prep the night before so that in the morning you can wake up and fix them however you like. I love chocolate chip ones and he likes everything( I like these too) and salt. The only bagels that have to be prepped before the boiling step are the ones that are stuffed with something.Read More
There are truly no words to describe how much I love pieces that are handmade, especially when they are made by people close to me. I have been blessed with having some very creative people in my life from my sister to friends. What I am going to share with you today was made by a friend of mine that I met in school.Read More
