I had the itch to switch the other day, you know the feeling right? You see something at Target or in my case a vintage boutique that calls your name and says” Take Me Home”. Maybe that sounds a little silly but I have never really been one to like to leave spaces the same for to long.Read More
I hope that you all are not getting sick of me sharing our indoor gardens. I am loving them, having plants especially ones that we can harvest and eat is so important to me. A few weeks ago we decided to buy these hydro gardens(below) and I have to say they are the best investment. The lettuce we have harvested is amazing, I have had three salads so far. The best part is that the lettuce can be harvested for up to 5 months in these pods. We just make sure to keep the water filled up and to give them plant food every two weeks. I have never tasted better lettuce. My husband calls me his little rabbit and I love it.Read More
Today I wanted to share a fun school project that I did for my color theory class. This project was my favorite one that we did because I love working with textiles in different ways. A project like this would also make a great summer project to do with your kiddos( or if you just wanted to make one). You can easily use any fabric you have around the house or pick out special pieces to use.Read More
Home made bagels are what Sundays are made for. My husband said after a very long day of working outside Saturday that he wanted to make bagels. I thought aren’t you tired but as he reminded me this recipe is so quick and easy. This is a great recipe to prep the night before so that in the morning you can wake up and fix them however you like. I love chocolate chip ones and he likes everything( I like these too) and salt. The only bagels that have to be prepped before the boiling step are the ones that are stuffed with something.Read More
There are truly no words to describe how much I love pieces that are handmade, especially when they are made by people close to me. I have been blessed with having some very creative people in my life from my sister to friends. What I am going to share with you today was made by a friend of mine that I met in school.Read More
I feel like I need a drum roll….
Ok maybe not but y’all, this space in our home has quickly become my happy place.
The rest of the house may look a little bit crazy( we have a few behind the scenes things happening) but this space has my heart.Read More
As I sit in our hotel room in Gatlinburg with the Smoky Mountains off in the distance, I decided I wanted to share some thoughts with you about something fun, traveling. It may a little out of place on here, but I can assure you that there are good reasons for me to talk about it, especially this week. I promise to try not to bore everyone. I also want to be able to share fun things that are happening around here with you.
Gardening is something that I have always wanted to do when I finally got my own place. I used to love watching my dad out in the garden and getting to eat what he grew. In a way having plants(in our case house plants) helps me to feel close to my dad. Over here at Vintage Soul we have quite a bit of yard maintenance to do this year so planting outside will have to wait until next year.Read More
Living in a fixer upper has taught me many things, one of them being patience( Im still working on this one if I am being totally honest). When we looked at our house we had no idea what was lurking, for lack of better words, behind the walls. In our case it was mold in the hvac system. We never could have imagined the work we would have to do.Read More
Spring is finally here and I am so excited. I have been loving this space in our home so much. Entryways make my heart happy especially when they are functional while also being pretty. I have already started to plan how I want to style this space in the summer. I know I am jumping the gun on that one it is just so fun to style. To make it feel welcoming and cozy I added soft blues, subtle pops of pink and greenery.Read More
