Hey Friends!

This is the time of year when everyone starts talking about purging and organizing. I will be the first to tell you that I love to purge from time to time. It feels good to get rid of things that I do not use or need anymore. But I am not yet in the space to do that, I am thinking a deep spring cleaning is in my future. Today I wanted to share five tips on making your home feel fresh for the new year. These tips are ways you can use what you already have or add in some new without breaking the bank necessarily. They are also small ways to help you start the new year feeling good.

  1. Rearrange your art- I am a big fan of changing up our wall art through out the year. There are certain pieces that I will move seasonally while I leave others up all year. It can be a great way to give your eyes something new to look at while using art you already have.

  2. Bringing in fresh florals- If you have been here a while you know we have a s**t ton of house plants but every now and then I love to bring in fresh flowers. There is something about the colors and smell of fresh flowers that makes our home feel fresh.

  3. Opening a window- I know I know, its cold out but honestly as silly as it sounds opening a window even if its just for a bit makes our house feel good. Plus the fresh air is good for you.

  4. Organizing where you can- Organizing seems as obvious as opening a window but I will be honest I am not the best at staying organized. I have decided to start small and in the room I spend the most time- the office. We do not have much storage space in our home so we get creative about ways to keep things where we can find them. I recently purchased a file organizer and a new planner to help me keep the office organized and my brain(hopefully). One way you could do this is to clean out your junk drawer in the kitchen. I know it seems small but it is a great place to start, clean out items you don’t use or need and add some drawer organizers.

  5. Paint- I have been talking to my husband a lot lately about wanting to refresh some of the paint in our home. One day he may come home to find me doing just that. Adding a fresh coat of paint to the wall or changing the color all together is a great way to start fresh.
